Nigerian born Spanish reggae star Prince Osito blends African music, dance hall, hip-hop and drum & bass influences into his personal version of reggae. He draws his musical inspiration from African artists (Fela Kuti, Majek Fashek, Lucky Dube) and Jamaican singers (Luciano, Culture, Sanchez, Beres Hammond, Anthony B, Bushman). In 2005 he presented the video of his very dance hall tune "Big Fat Woman", distributed to Nigerian music TV channels, which initiated a strong local fan base in Nigeria. He performed with Bongo Lounge in Barcelona club La Paloma and shared the stage with the soul/funk musician Aqeel (Los Angeles) at the Cultura Urbana Festival (Madrid) in May 2006.Since his album release, Prince Osito has been touring in Europe and Africa, with dates in Spain (Barcelona, Malaga, Valencia, etc), Slovakia, France, Nigeria and Benin. As an instance we could hear him with Jah Cure at the Aldajah Festival (Valencia) in June 2008; he warmed up for Alpha Blondy (Barcelona) in November 2009 and for Tiken Jah Fakoli (Barcelona) in August 2009; he is also performing every year at the Monegros Festival, considered as one of the most important music event in Spain. There, Prince Osito showed once again that he is first of all a 'stage artist'. Simultaneously, he has been working on new singles, including an unreleased duet with the international artist Junior Reid ("Mama Africa"), always thriving to innovate through lyrics of his own style and unheard beats - in sync with producers Professor Angel Dust and DeLippo. In 2009 he brought out his tune "Wake up Africa", calling for drastic changes on his native continent, and also shot the video clip backed up by the Spanish band Urban Roots. For more info, check out: www.princeosito.com www.myspace.com/princeosito www.myspace.com/princejungle www.facebook.com/Prince Osita |
